OGame is a browser based text war in which the player must command an empire and all of its resources. You will command your planets from a basic overview. You will make decisions on whether you want to increase the amount of mineral production, the strength of your planets defences, the research of new technologies or the size of your fleet. Resources are scarce so they must be spent wisely, failure to do so will result in the destruction of your empire. Other features of this game include an alliance system in which you can make or join an alliance to fight your enemies or to make it easy to trade resources with other players. Communication is made easy with an ingame messaging system as well as a community forum.
The form of currency in OGame is Dark Matter. This can be found free ingame in ‘expeditions’ however it is extremely rare and in minimal amounts. Alternatively it can be bought using cash.
From using Dark Matter a Merchant can be called and all three types of resources can be bought, metal, crystal and or deuterium. Officers can also be purchased such as the Commander, Admiral, Engineer, Geologist and or the Technocat. Each of these office provide different perks which will help your empire in different ways. However they do not give an overwhelming advantage over other players, therefore making the game nicely balanced.
It’s a well balanced game that has a lot of content to keep you busy. The community is strong, interactive and there is excellent support for new players.
