Ragnarok Online is based off Norse mythology and has many Norse elements. Transportation requires walking through portals which take you to each map. Maps have different settings including: deserts, forests, towns, etc. The stat system is based on two levels: the first is Base Level which gives you Stat points, the second is Job Level which gives you skill points. There are 5 stats which determine you damage and survivability: Strength, Agility, Dexterity, Vitality and Luck.
There is a huge tree of classes available. Once you reach level 10 Job (doesn’t matter about Base level), you can choose between Swordsmans, Archers, Magicians, Thiefs, Merchants, Taekwon Kids, Ninjas, Gunslingers, and Super Novices. At level 40 Job, you earn your Second Job. Once you reach 99 Base/50 job, you “Rebirth,” and become a High Novice. From there you repeat the same steps, but with slower leveling.
Kafra Credit Points can buy consumables, box items (which hold a large quantity of consumables), and equipment which boosts your stats.
Ragnarok Online has rich gameplay, animations, and sprites even though it is an older game. The audio is nice and fits each region. The game is a bit too grind oriented, and there are few quests. I will say this game is probably one of the best free to play RPGs out there. An excellent game that everyone into the RPG genre should try. – Shotzzzz August 17, 2010
