Overview
Ask The Furry One got its start as an internet show. In the show, the host who goes by the alias RenegadeFerret (The Furry One) answers questions sent in by the viewers while recording video. The video usually features RenegadeFerret playing a game, namely First Person Shooters. The questions range anywhere from gaming theory, to favorite foods, to hardships in life.

The second show produced by ATFO was Tourney Talk. The show features top competitors in the fighting game scene that cover a variety of areas in the genre: Tournament Experiences, Strategies, Recorded Competitions

Since the video productions, the site has expanded with the introduction of Sub Sites. Each Sub Site is independently run to produce a variety of content while giving new web developers freedom to experiment and learn.

GoATFO is now a community teeming with hundreds of members who help each other improve their gaming skills as well as their lives. The ATFO Community is a place where members feel comfortable asking each other questions, and they don’t hesitate to help find solutions for others.

History
The first episode was posted on YouTube on August 13, 2007, and covered a few tips on the game Soldier Front. The episode that gets the most credit for producing fans is Episode 2 which covers how to manage the in-game currency of Soldier Front called SP.

AskTheFurryOne.com opened on November 1, 2007. The first features it offered included: Forums, a Donation section, and Embedded YouTube Episodes. Since then, the website has grown and offers a variety of features: New Episodes, Soldier Front Map and Weapon Tutorials, Call of Duty 4 Weapon Tutorials, a Calendar for Member-Hosted Events, Live Chat, and an Episode Content Directory created and edited by the members.

In June of 2008 the website made some drastic transformations. The new ATFO Community Forum opened and encouraged users to use the forums as a tool for success. From advertising a hobby or company to finding new local friends, the ATFO Community Forum is THE place to be to expand one’s life. Other web additions included more products for donations such as Honorary Memberships and Merchandise.

The ATFO Show
The Ask The Furry One Show is based around the questions asked each episode. Soldier Front is the primary focus of the questions but many other games are covered as well: The Call of Duty Series, Combat Arms, and other free FPS games show up quite a bit. The Furry One plays games to provide visual aid to answer questions as well as commentary to regular gameplay.

Episode 21 stands out from the rest because it is the first to be recorded on a game other than Soldier Front and also contains a surprise guest. In the episode The Furry One played the game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The guest, known only as Garmain, adds comic responses to many of the questions. Garmain has not returned to the show, but a few other quirky guests have made appearances in later episodes.

Episodes are embedded in the Videos section of the website. Episodes 1 through 15 are also posted at YouTube.com/RenegadeFerret. Newer Episodes are also posted for download in the Media Index and later uploaded by volunteers to YouTube.com/ATFOVideo.

The Tourney Talk Show

Tourney Talk was created with two goals in mind: Improving the quality of tournaments and improving the competitive skill of players. The show focuses mainly on the Competitive Fighting Game scene where only the most dedicated players make it to the top. These players think nothing of driving an hour to get a few practice matches in. The usual guests of the show go by the names of Immortal, Asian Guy, Clem, Second Hand Panic and Ghettoontherise.

About the main guests:

  • Immortal - Among the top Street Fighter 2 players in the nation, he is working hard with hopes of becoming #1.
  • Asian Guy - One of the best overall fighting game players in the Midwest Region. If you challenge him to any game, you’ll be sorry.
  • Clem - Started playing fighting games competitively in 2007, he is new to the scene and rapidly moving up the chain.
  • Second Hand Panic - Ever hear something original that you just can’t get enough of on ATFO? Well, it most likely came from this guy. (He’s not bad at games either)
  • Ghettoontherise - The Alex Trebek of fighting games. The man has a library of combos in his head.

Subsites

Currently most projects are on hold until a good amount of Sub Sites are built and ready for the public. These sites will make ATFO a great resource for independent content for years to come.
