Maplestory
Maple Story is a 2D platforming RPG. Players will take on one of several classes to fight NPCs and explore the world. There are many different themed areas to the Maple Story world, you may find yourself in a magic forest, lego land or alien sector. Maple Story uses multiple servers; when you create a character on one server, you will not be able to use that character on another server (so figure out where your friends play before starting). Players cannot fight other players, but they can do quests together. Quests will give players bonus experience, money and items. Auto stat-allocation is available for new players. We recommend you look into online guides for best results leveling your characters.
Classes – Explorers
- Explorers are the original classes of Maple Story. They can reach max level 200 and are rather flexible to play.
- Archer – Use either a bow and arrow or crossbow to fire (mostly) horizontal projectiles. Strong but not as maneuverable as assassins.
- Magician - Use ranged magic attacks as a Fire/Poison or Ice/Lightning magician. Can also become a cleric to heal others.
- Pirate – Use guns for ranged attack or become a brawler for fierce melee combat.
- Theif – Use throwing starts to hit a single target as an assassin. Or quickly cut the enemy’s face as a bandit with a dagger, or dual blade with dagger and sword.
- Warrior - Use a sword/axe as a fighter, spears/poles as a spearman, or sword/mace as a page. Warriors are slower but very powerful melee fighters.
Classes – Heroes
- Heroes can reach level 200 and are very powerful when used by a skilled player.
- Aran – Aran is a spear fighter that utilizes a combo system for maximum damage.
- Evan – Evan is a magician that has a pet dragon to assist him.
- Dual Blader – Dual Bladers are thieves that can wield a dagger and a katara at the same time.
Classes – Cygnus Knights
- Cygnus Knights are more powerful than Explorers at the same level; they have more skills, attacking sprites (pets) and earn an extra skill point for each level up. However their max level is 120, once explorers surpass 120 they become more powerful than the Knights.
- Blaze Mage – Magicians that are masters of fire.
- Dawn Warrior – Warriors that use the spirit of light to enhance their weapons.
- Night Walker – Assassins utilizing darkness to enhance their stars.
- Thunder Breaker – Brawlers that utilize thunder to enhance their attacks.
- Wind Archer – Utilize the wind to fire their arrows.
Paid content does not give players large strength advantages. Content is primarily vanity items or account support items.
The is no point to playing Maple Story, all you do is kill monsters to level up and kill more. However, this game is surprisingly entertaining and addictive. The art direction and music is wonderful making exploration and hunting a pleasing experience. The 2D aspect also allows the game to be more action-packed than most RPGs. If you don’t mind the idea of killing mindless NPCs for days on end, I recommend you do a little research on which class appeals to you, find a nice leveling guide, then have at it! – RenegadeFerret 8/5/2010
If you are new or doubt you will play for years to reach level 200, you may want to look into a Cygnus Knight. They are able to explore and level up faster because of higher strength.
